There is no general answer to the question of the ideal age for starting piano lessons, as it depends on the individual abilities and interests of the child. Based on my experience in teaching piano to children of different ages, I would like to give you some helpful tips.
In general, you can start piano lessons from the age of 5, although children of this age have very different requirements. During our four-week trial period, we can determine whether your child is ready to start piano lessons.
It is not until around the age of 6 that children generally develop the fine motor skills necessary for dexterity and the application of force on the keyboard. The weighted keys of a piano require a certain level of fine motor skills in order to be able to play notes in a controlled and expressive manner.
The primary school age is also ideal for developing musical hearing. During this phase, children learn particularly well to distinguish between sounds, rhythms and pitches. This is why this age is particularly suitable for starting to play the piano.
