Yixie Shen began playing the piano with her father at the age of five and began writing her own compositions at the age of eleven. At the age of 13, she was accepted as a student at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and studied composition and piano at the attached Shanghai Music Middle School. After completing her bachelor's degree in composition at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, she joined Prof. Fredrik Schwenk's class at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater in 2018 as an exchange student and completed her concert exam studies there. Her works have been performed by various orchestras, ensembles, soloists and festivals in Germany, France, Spain and China, including the Elbphilharmonie, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, KNM Berlin, LUX:MN-contemporary music ensemble, Hamburger Ratsmusik, the Young Festival Artist Bayreuth and the Academy contemporary.
